Tim Chung crushed Brett Angell and won the title - Genting Poker Series
The 5th stage of the Genting Poker Series (season 2014) was played at Genting Casino Newcastle since Wednesday. 297 players travelled to Newcastle to take part in the Main Event of £ 440. And after three days of poker battle, the field was dropped to 87, all of whom were qualified for Day 2. As for Day 3, it only saw 12 survivors including Tim Chung, Keith Hawkins, Rob Yong, Jonathan Beck, Colin Turnbull, Brett Angell, George Harle, John Stirling, Tom Brady, Willie Tann, Matt Davenport and Jamie Dale. The elimination of Jonathan Beck and Jamie Dale paved the way for the remaining (10) players to reach the final table. Leading the chip counts early on Day 3 flight, Tim Chung secured chipleader to win this poker tournament.
Tim Chung entered the heads-up with almost 2 to 1 chip lead against Brett Angell. Chung eventually emerged victorious and earned £ 32,815 for his first place while his opponent collected £ 22,750 as a runner-up. Actually, Tim Chung succeeds the winner of the edition 2013 of the GPS Newcastle Ellie Biessek and makes a name of himself in a major poker event thanks to this win (his first). For the other players, Willie Tann found himself in the third place for £ 15,310; he is followed by Rob Yong (4th, £ 9,185), Keith Hawkins (5th, £ 7,000), Turnbull (6th, £ 5,500), Tom Brady (7th, £ 4,190) George Harle (8th, £ 3,310), John Stirling (9th, £ 2,630) and Matt Davenport (10th, £ 2,060). After Newcastle, the GPS will make another stopover in Nottingham from September 18 to 22 at Dusk Till Dawn Poker & Casino.
