Victory of Mohamed El Bakkouri during the Main Event - WPT National Brussels
The World Poker Tour National Brussels concluded with Mohamed El Bakkouri winning the top prize. This French poker player has delivered impressive performance in recent months following his win in the final table of the ACF Poker Tour (second edition) in November 2013. Mohamed El Bakkouri won the Main Event of the WPT National Brussels after a tough heads-up against Djamel Boutaleb. He entered the heads-up clash with a comfortable chip-count lead over Djamel Boutaleb: 6,500,000 against 1,500,000 chips for Djamel. He collected 47,000 of cash for his first place while the runner-up Djamel Boutaleb settled with 32,000. Christophe Savary finished 3rd and pocketed 20,900. The other participants who made up the final table field are Joseph Mazig (finishing 4th place for 15,400), Pierre Neuville (5th, 11,600), Jeremiah Tapia (6th, 9,300), Cordier Maxime (7th, 7,700) and Gabriel Ergen (8th, 6,200). It is worth repeating that this WPT National Brussels was held in the poker room of Grand Casino Brussels- Viage over six days.
El Bakkouri thus succeeds Danish Lasse Frost after toppling a field of 319 players. Although the event failed to attract more players with its 750- 1,500 buy-in formula, it was a great success. Many French poker players travelled to Viage, including Ilan Boujenah, Pierre Neuville, Franck Kalfon and Anthony Rodrigues. May we remind you that in March, this poker tournament gathered fewer players compared to previous editions: 440 in March 2013, 450 in December 2013 and 376 participants in March 2014.
