The latest poker event in Tasmanian calendar - Tasmanian Poker Championship
The poker schedule 2013-2014 in Tasmania will be closed in August with the launching of the Tasmanian Poker Championship. This last tournament of the year will be held in Hobarts Wrest Point Casino, Tasmania, from August 1st to 3. As a reminder, the last event Wrest Point Casino housed was the Tasmanian 3 Diamond Challenge. Josh Waterhouse beat local poker pro Will Jones to win the event for $ 15,000 of prize. Indeed, Tasmanian Poker Championship is nicely distinguishable by its lower and affordable buy-in, a great opportunity for all poker enthusiasts in the region to actively participate in the tournament. As a proof, the Main Event of this poker tournament is accessible for only $ 290 of buy-in. This event will run over two flights: the first is on Friday, August 1, the second flight on Saturday August 2. Players will enter the battle with a stack of 10,000 chips. Blind level is to increase every 30 minutes of play.
In 2013, the limited field of 80 players was reached, leaving many players to miss the battle out. 92 participants played the Tasmanian Poker Championship 2013, generating a prize pool of $ 23,000. Gavin Hanlon won the previous edition for $ 9,200 of prize by outlasting Bill Arnol ($ 5,060), David Bowan ($ 3,450), Walter Digiorio ($ 2,300), Michael Males ($ 1,610) and Kyle Dolbel ($ 1,380). This year, the Main Event will be limited at 100 entrants but re-entry is allowed on Day 1 with a buy-in of $ 250 during the first two hours of play. After Tasmanian Championship Poker, poker enthusiasts in the Asia-Pacific region will be spoilt with New Zealands poker tournament New Zealand Poker Championships, a great event to be held from August 16 to 24 at Christchurch Casino.
