Four world-class teams in the semifinals - World Cup 2014
The World Cup 2014 reaches now its semifinals stage after truly impressive quarterfinals that have surprised supporters and gamblers via online sports betting sites. Brazil will meet Germany tomorrow July 8 at Belo Horizonte while Argentina is playing the Netherlands on Wednesday July 9 at Sao Paulo. These two games will offer a maximum pleasure to sports betting fans because the four competing teams are all regular participants in this stage of the world cup. The host country, Germany and Argentina have already at least one title in their respective record while the Netherlands are fighting for their first one following their 0-1 score defeat in South Africa against Spain. Brazil has five titles (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002) while Germany possesses three (1954, 1974 and 1990) and two for Argentina (1978 and 1986). The Oranje team is still running for their first world title after three lost finals (1974, 1978 and 2010).
Brazil and Germany are really accustomed to this kind of competition; they respectively register 20 and 18 participations since the very first launching of the World Cup. But both teams only engaged in a clash once in the South Korea-Japan World Cup 2002 in which the Seleçao emerged victorious (2-0). Across all competition, Argentina and the Netherlands have met 21 times with a clear advantage of the Seleçao (12 wins to 4.5 draws). Both teams had three games played in the World Cup final stage, including the most exciting one dated back in 1978. At that time, the Albiceleste won at home facing The Oranje (3-1). The Netherlands had lead with four wins and three tied games.
