Italian Poker Open 2014: Savinelli and Smeraglia in the hunt of the title!
Nine players went back to the poker room of Casino di Campione in Italy for the final table of the Italian Poker Open Main Event2014. As we know all, Virgilio Di Cicco was the best players who would have won the tournament at the beginning of the final table. However, he was prematurely eliminated, and left the title race to Locher Reto, Carlo Savinelli and Antonio Smeraglia. The game was interrupted on Tuesday evening, so the remaining three players will get back on the table Wednesday afternoon. Before the interruption, six players were eliminated.
One of them is Maurizio Giaffreda. He finished 9th and won 16,125. And after two hours of game, Ekia Francechini (8th position) left the room with 22,000. But it took them a pretty good time for the next elimination, that of Paolo De Angelis. As for Fabrizio Zucca, he was ousted by Reto Locher. Finishing 6th, Fabrizio won 42,000. The five remaining players continued the game for more than three hours. Soon after that, Virgilio Di Cicco headed for the door with 73,000 of cash. The first day of the final table ended with the elimination of Antonio Pezzi who finished fourth and got home with 73,000 euro. The ultimate game of this poker tournament is to be held today with the three qualified poker players of yesterday: Reto Locher, the chipleader with 49,800,000 chips, Carlo Savenelli (33,600,000 chips) and Antonio Smeraglia with a short stack of 13,100,000 chips.
