World Poker Tour: In the process of shot clock implementation
Over the past few years, shot clock implementation during live poker tournament has been making headlines but it is not applied until now. During the WPT L.A. Poker Classic Main Event which is taking place at Commerce Hotel & Casino poker room, in Los Angeles, organizers are discussing about it once again and considering shot clock introduction during future tournament seasons. They already carried out a survey of players present at this event. It should be noted that shot clock is a rule that forces players to make a decision within a limited time or they will lose their hands. Numerous players have already called upon tournament to implement this system generally imposed in many sports. It is a system that avoids waste of time. It is for example, imposed to all basketball players to make a decision within 24 seconds, timed by a shot clock. It is better to know that in poker, a player has to make a decision too, before the game can continue.
As a result of this survey, WPT foresees a 30 seconds shot clock, a 60-secondsTIME button every day during a tournament period. Note that TIME buttons may be cumulated, that enables players to have longer time to reflect during crucial moments. For that purpose, three different moments were proposed for the shot clock implementation: from paid places, for the latest three tables and during finale table. The possible introduction of shot clock seemed to be welcomed by players because 80% of them responded positively to the survey.
