Daniel Cates, alias « jungleman », has won the trophy of the event with a buy-in of $100, 000 of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha8 Johannesburg. This achievement in African land awarded him a strong reward of $500,000. Let us note that this poker tournament has gathered 10 majors of game. On last Saturday, they were only seven players who were able to join the poker room of the Emperors Palace Hotel Casino of Johannesburg to win the title. Antonio Esfandiari was the first eliminated of this second day. The double WPT Alpha 8 champion, Philipp Gruissem and the American professional of poker, Erik Seidel have successively joined him among the eliminated. Thus, the latter was the unfortunate bubble boy.
After the ousting of these three big names, the game was more and more animated. The public attended the ascent of Jeff Gross in the place of chipleader and his elimination for the fourth place. Cates was at the origin of this unfortunate defeat and that allowed him to defeat his two opponents in terms of chips. Holder of the lowest stack, Jason Mercier bowed in the place of bronze. The Canadian has pocketed a bonus of $200,000. Thus, the final heads-up opposed Cates to Kineh Pather. It was a short meeting, given that Cates held more 600,000 chips than his opponent. He has easily won the trophy and the first prize of $275,000. jungleman has from now on a total of gains of $1.1 million from poker tournament.
