EPT Deauville: Success of Sotirios Koutoupas during the Main event final table
The trophy of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Deauville 2014 has been awarded to the Greek Sotirios Koutoupas. As a reminder, this poker tournament has gathered 671 players, generating a prizepool of 3,220,100. The Greek has thus pocketed the jackpot of 614,000, a well-deserved bonus after his achievement during the final heads-up, opposing him to Eugene Katchalov. The latter was in quest of a triple crown but once more, he has lost his luck. Let us note that this duel of poker has lasted about one hour. The Greek was in a strong position as he had more than 15 million chips, while his opponent had only 5 million chips. Even if Katchalov has proved a great performance, his opponent had all cards in hands, especially as he appeared very active. Katchalov has thus finally bowed in the place of runner-up when the Greek has showed a 30/70preflop. He contented himself with the second prize of 379,500.
Besides, the audacious Koutoupas has already done numerous victims during this event, namely Harry Law who bowed in the 5th position and Anthony Lerust, the only French present on this final table. The latter was the first who left the round, while he has played only one hand. He contented himself with the 8th prize of 63,900. Oliver Price has finished third during this confrontation and has pocketed 271,200. Eli Health, Rustem Muratov and Carlo De Benedittis occupy respectively the 4th, 6th and 7th position.
