Online poker: An additional period for the approved operators in Nevada
Unlike the States of New Jersey and Delaware, the industry of online poker in Nevada has already started its launching with the platforms of Station Casinos and Caesars Entertainment Corp. The poker rooms of these casinos are already operational but other websites, in spite of a little late, are going to be established online within the next coming months, like the case of MGM, Boyd and Golden Nugget. These casinos are among those which put a license application near the Nevada Gaming Control Board and whose files were approved during last autumn. According to the law concerning online gambling in Nevada, the operators have to implement their projects within 6 months after their approval. But the projects of some authorized operators such as MGM, Boyd and Golden Nugget remain pending. The reason is that the preparation and the various tests require extra time than as planned.
In this beginning of October, the Nevada Gaming Control Board held a meeting with as agenda the slowdown of the launching of poker websites for the already approved operators. The Commission was in favor of the requests of these operators, to give them further time. There is also the problem of liquid assets which may be solved by the establishment of a unique and intra-state market, but when? For their offers of online poker, MGM and Boyd partnered with Bwin. Party Digital Entertainment, while Golden Nugget joined with Bally Technologies.
