Poker Hall of Fame 2013: Ten nominated for two inductions
As every year, the Poker Hall of Fame receives one or two new members. The season 2013 of the World Series of Poker wont make exception to this tradition and will induct two new players. For a month and a half, from July 3 to August 15, the public was invited to choose players and other personalities that could potentially have a Hall of Fame status. These players must fulfill some requirements to become a Hall of Famer: have participated in a major poker tournament, have played high stakes, have earned the respect of other players and remained a good player until now. For those who are not players, these persons should have contributed to the growth of poker.
A few days ago, 10 names were selected and have been the subject of a vote by the 19 members still living in the Hall of Fame and the 18 personalities from poker media after this first selection open to the general public. The 10 nominees are Chris Bjorin (65 years, 2 WSOP bracelets), Humberto Brenes (62 years, 2 bracelets), David Chiu (53 years, 5 bracelets and a WPT title), Thor Hansen (66 years, 2 bracelets), Jennifer Harman (48 years, 2 bracelets), Mike Matusow (45 years, 4 bracelets), Tom McEvoy (68 years, 4 bracelets), Carlos Mortensen (41 years, 1 bracelet and 3 WPT titles) , Scotty Nguyen (51 years , 4 bracelets) and Huck Seed (44 years, 4 bracelets) . In addition to the WSOP bracelets, these players have a high reputation in live tournaments. The names of the two Hall of Famers will be announced in November during the final table of the WSOP «November Nine."
