Global Poker Index: Rettenmaier still leads, Selbst comes back in the ranking
Like each week, the Global Poker Index brings an update in the classification of the 300 best players of poker in the world. For its update of September 25th, this poker ranking didnt know great change, especially in the Top 20. Marvin Rettenmaier remains the leader of the classification and takes some steps ahead on his direct pursuers: Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Philipp Gruissem and Joseph Cheong. In the rest of the Top 10, we find Ole Schemion, Stephen O'Dwyer, David Sands, Michael Watson and Igor Kurganov. The only change in the Top 20, compared with last week, is the exchange of place between Jonathan Duhamel and David Peters, for the 14th and 15th place of the ranking.
This week, Vanessa Selbst signed a remarkable performance at the WPT Borgata Poker Open. Vanessa Selbst finished in the second place of the Main Event of this poker tournament, after a heads-up with Anthony Zinno. Following a rather fructuous adventure in Atlantic City, the 29-year-old American woman player pocketed $492,569, bringing her earning in career at $7,891,022. Vanessa Selbst made a jump of 21 places and occupies this week the 31st place of the GPI. Matt Salsberg also goes back in the classification (44th, +15), thanks to a victory rewarded with $47,360 at the No Limit Hold'em, at$1,650 of buy-in, in the WPT Borgata Poker Open. He also finished in the money in the Main Event, 46th place for $10,988 of gain. A large number of notable players regressed in the ranking, following the example of Roger Hairabedian (45th, -9), Phil Hellmuth (60th, -11), Shaun Deeb (100th, -3), David Chino Rheem (104th, -3), Isaac Haxton (160th, -4) or Matthias De Meulder (211th, -16).
