Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon: Brian Long Yip, chipleader after the two Day 1
Since last week, the poker room of City of Dreams is abuzz with the holding of the Macau Poker Cup. The events already started last week with the NLH Deepstack of HKD 2,000, won by Celina Lin, but the poker event the most expected by players remained the MPC Red Dragon. This main event of $11,000 buy-in gathered 375 players within its two entry days. Participants came from around the world in order to try to become famous in one of the most important poker tournaments of the Southern hemisphere.
The Day 1A was marked by the participation of 131 poker players, but this field was reduced to 35 players at the end of the first departure day of the MPC Red Dragon. The runner-up of the Main Event of the ANZPT Queenstown, Daniel Laidlaw, was the leader of chipcount, with a stack of 109,600 chips. Other players such as Kenneth Yuen Kiong Leong, Thomas Ward, Immanuel Siebert and Frank Maley are in comfortable situation at the beginning of the Day 2, planned on Saturday August 17th, with more than 90,000 chips. At the Day 1B, 234 registrations were recorded but only 63 among them managed to qualify for the Day 2. Brian Long Yip finished in the top of the ranking with 180,900 chips, followed by Michelangelo Longabela, Daoxing "Bobo" Chen, Mei Ngok, Fan Cao and Qi Peng; the other players with more than 100,000 chips. The last departure day will take place this Friday August 16th, at the beginning of the evening. And waiting for the Day 1C, Brian Long Yip is the temporary chipleader, as he has managed to play poker well, till now.
