GPI: Jason Mercier remains n°1, Steve O'Dwyer joined the Top 10
The Global Poker Index (GPI) ranking registered some major changes this week, after the UK & Ireland Poker Tour which was held last week in the poker room of Full Tilt Poker Village. Jason Mercier remains at the head of the ranking, with 200 points ahead on Joseph Cheong, followed by Daniel Negreanu, Michael Watson, Ole Schemion, Marvin Rettenmaier and Philipp Gruissem for the seven first places. Steve O'Dwyer rises in the 8th place of the GPI, after a superb second place at the Irish Championship at 2,300 of buy-in, in the UKIPT Galway. The American won two places in the classification of the 300 best poker players worldwide, relegating Bertrand « ElkY » Grospellier and Igor Kurganov at the 9th and 10th place.
Dermot Blain signs the best progression of the week, by ending 3rd at the High Roller poker tournament at 2,000 of the UKIPT Galway. The Irish won 50 places and is this week in the 155th place of the GPI. Other players also stood out this week, following the example of Jonathan Duhamel (21st, +14), Kevin MacPhee (63rd, +14), Rocco Palumbo (107th, +12), Matt Giannetti (151st, +22), Matthias De Meulder (163rd, +30) or Niall Farrell (227th, +21). New players also enter in the Top 300, following the example of Raul Paez Corral (232nd), Max Silver (251st), Andrey Pateychuk (264th), Jarred Solomon (290th) or Sergio Espina (300th). Raul Paez Corral finished 11th at Main Event of the UKIPT Galway and 3rd at the $1500 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better, Event #39 of the WSOP 2013, one month later.
