Empire State Championship: Victory of Adam Foster
After the success of the edition 2012 of the Empire State Championship, its organizers invited poker enthusiasts for a new edition at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. The tournament began last week, but the most anticipated event by players was the $ 1,650 buy-in Main Event. The Empire State Championship was also an opportunity to launch Poker Night in America, a new TV show that mixes tournament and High Stakes. This new poker show was set up by the producers of the Heartland Poker Tour, Todd Anderson and Andy Rich and the WSOP Media Director, Nolan Dalla. Poker enthusiasts are honored with this show, filmed on a private jet between Las Vegas and New York, which brought together some icons of poker. Among others, Will "The Thrill" Failla, Shaun Deeb, Nick "Nicky Numbers" Brancato, Dwyte Pilgrim, Amanda Musumeci, Dennis Phillips, Matt Glantz and Darvin Moon are among these players.
The Main Event of the Empire State Championship drew 426 participants who generated a total prize pool of $ 619,830. Other pros like Phil Laak, Greg Mueller, Kristy Arnett, Shawn Buchanan, David "ODB" Baker, Eli Elezra, Gavin Smith, Tom Schneider and David Levi was also part. After three days of competition, the field was reduced to nine players who played for the title. Adam Foster won the event after the final table that gathered Matt Parry, Bud Salhob, David Johnston, Will Failla, Matt Glantz, James Rubin, Darvin Moon and Jason Knablo. Adam Foster pocketed $ 154,958 for his victory against $ 86,776 for Matt Parry, the runner-up of this event.
