WPT Alpha8 Florida: 9 players have already confirmed their participation
Announced in July, the World Poker Tour Alpha8 is a new international circuit, which stands out by these tournaments of $100,000 buy-in minimum. This new series of High Roller poker tournament will take place in North America, Europe, Asia and South Africa. Apart from the very high buy-in, like the one of the One Drop High Roller of the WSOP, whose buy-in is amounted at $111,111, the WPT Alpha8 stands out by its 8-handed final table. As its name indicates, the final table is played between 8 players, but not 6 as we are used to see at the final tables of the World Poker Tour. From March 16th, 2014, poker fans will be able to follow this FOX Sports 1 tournament in streaming live. The program will be presented by the delightful Lynn Gilmartin. The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open will inaugurate from next August 26th, the new circuit with the WPT Alpha8 Florida.
A few weeks before the beginning of hostilities, some poker players have already confirmed their participation in this unique event of the WPT circuit. They are mainly specialists of High Roller and major tournaments, following the example of Jason Mercier, Joseph Cheong, Erik Seidel, David Sands, Daniel Perper, Daniel Alaei, Thomas Hall, Jason Koon and Anthony Gregg. The latter was the runner-up of the High Roller at the EPT Monaco, in May of this year and won the One Drop High Roller, one month later. Number 1 of the GPI, Jason Mercier is a regular of great tournaments and his future participation in the WPT Alpha8 Florida is not a surprise. He won the $100,000 High Roller tournament of the WPT Five Diamond in 2011 and finished second of the 100,000 Super High Roller of the EPT Monaco 2013.
