One Drop: 21 players already registered with fewer professionals
After the success of the Big One For One Drop of last year which gathered 48 players for its buy-in of $ 1,000,000, the concept introduced by Guy Laliberté was renewed this year. Event #47 of this 44th edition of the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the poker tournament was changed in high roller, an event which attracts numerous players in live tournaments. The One Drop High Roller will be accessible for a buy-in of $ 111,111 from Wednesday June 26, for a period of 5 days. This amount was chosen because 10% of the buy-in will be poured to the association One Drop, which means that the buy-in which will constitute the prizepool is about $ 100,000. According to the communication manager of the WSOP, Seth Palansky, 21 players have already registered in the tournament and 20 among them are not professional poker players. Like last year, several players were not professionals but businessmen and wealthy persons who wanted to support and participate in the noble cause defended by Guy Laliberté, with his association One Drop.
But within the next coming days, we may assist to last-minute registrations of professional players and « sharks » in search of big fishes. We can expect the presence of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Sam Trickett, Vanessa Rousso or Daniel Negreanu. The latter published on Full Contact Poker, his program for the WSOP 2013 and the One Drop High Roller is among the 6 No-Limit Holdem events in which he will take part in, during this world championship of poker.
