Heartland Poker Tour: A first victory for Roger Martin
After a step at River City Casino of St Louis at the end of the month of April, the Heartland Poker Tour continues with the before last step of the season, at the Casino Route 66 of Albuquerque in New Mexico. During this poker tournament, 100 persons paid the $ 1,650 buy-in to participate in the Main Event. This main tournament of the HPT, which guarantees a minimum gain of $ 4,641, reached its final table on Tuesday. Thomas Montoya, John Michalak, Craig Casino, Roger Martin, Norman Michalek, Cruz Baca, Kris Wagner, Charles Vargas and Allen Kessler were the nine survivors of the tournament, after a few days of competition.
The final table started with the elimination of Charles Vargas on a hand of Roger Martin. The elimination followed by those of Thomas Montoya and Norman Michalek, who respectively pocketed $ 5,252 and $ 5,862. Roger Martin has afterward taken care to eliminate John Michalak, who left the table with $ 5,862 for his sixth place. After having pushed Norman Michalak aside, Craig Casino eliminates Kris Wagner at the 5th place for a gain of $ 8,549. Craig Casino falls in his turn at the 4th place on a hand of Cruz Baca who took care also of the case of Allen Kessler a few hands later. Eliminated at the 4th and 3rd place of the HPT, the two players pocketed $ 11,602 and $ 15,999. At this stage, there were only two remaining players on the final table, Cruz Baca and Roger Martin. The latter is someone who knows well how to play poker and got the upper hand over his opponent, during the head's up and offered himself a first victory on career. Roger Martin won the HPT title and a gain of $ 39,082. Cruz Baca settled for $ 24,426 for his place of runner-up.
