EPT Grand Final: Victory of Steve O'Dwyer in the Main Event
Since last week, Monte Carlo received the last stage of the European Poker Tour season. The Main Event of this EPT Grand Final gathered a field of 531 players who paid the 10,600 buy-in to generate a massive prize pool of 5,310,000. After a few days of fierce competition, the final table of this poker tournament took place with the eight survivors of the tournament, to know Andrew Pantling, Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Jake Cody, Steve ODwyer, Noah Schwartz, Grant Levy and Johnny Lodden. At the end of the day, the American Steve O'Dwyer won the event and pocketed a gain of more than 1 million during the final table which guaranteed a minimum gain of 103,000.
Having gained the Open Face Chinese a few days before, Jason Mercier was less fortunate during this event by having been eliminated at the 7th place for a gain of 137,000. Noah Schwartz was the next and his elimination at the 6th place allowed him to pocket 189,000.The elimination continued with that of Jake Cody and Daniel Negreanu who pocketed respectively 251,000 and 321,000. The elimination of Johnny Lodden at the last step of the podium allowed Andrew Pantling and Steve O'Dwyer to meet in the head's up. O'Dwyer got the upper hand with 3:1 of chips on the table and won the title, rewarded of a 1,224,000 gain and 1,200 points. Andrew Pantling left the final table with 842,000 and 1,750 POY points.
