EPT Berlin: Daniel Pidun wins the Main Event
After having finished 9th in 2011, 10th in 2012, Daniel Pidun finally won the European Poker Tour Berlin at the end of last week, in front of Robert Haigh. The final table took place between the eight survivors of the tournament who are respectively Pascal Vos, Daniel Pidun, Roman Herold, Roman Korenev, Alexander Helbig, Julian Thomas, Lasse Frost and Robert Haigh. The first player eliminated for the day was Roman Korenev who pocketed 77,000. The specialist of Sit & Go Julian Thomas was the next after his confrontation with Roman Herold. His 7th place allowed him to collect 110,000 of earnings.
In spite of the pot gained by Roman Herold at the end of this hand, he was not under cover in front of Alexander Helbig. The latter fails a few hands later in the 5th place. Daniel Pidun took himself as an executioner by having eliminated one by one the two other remaining players and finally faces Robert Haigh in the heads up. Indeed, the German eliminated in the wake Pascal Vos and Lasse Frost who pocketed respectively 255,000 and 325,000 for their 4th and 3rd place. At this stage of the competition, there were no more than two players to pretend for the title of the edition 2013 of this poker event in the German capital. From there, cards were played in advance because Daniel Pidun began the final confrontation with 24,500,000 chips against only 2,800,000 chips for Robert Haigh. The local player Daniel Pidun wins the main event hands down and pocketed 880,000 for this landslide victory. Runner-up of this poker tournament, Robert Haigh left the final table with a gain of 531,000.
