CPPT Caribbean Cruise: Victory of Fred Samelian during the Main Event
Fred Samelian won the Main Event of the first edition of the Card Player Poker Tour Caribbean Cruise (CPPT) held on the magnificent cruise ship Oasis of the Seas. After a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean and five days of non-stop competition, this enthusiast of poker of about sixty years, native of Las Vegas, was the best during the Main Event with buy-in of $ 1,100 which gathered a field of 43 players. This participation generated a total prize pool of $ 41,280 which were shared between the five best players of the competition.
Five players competed for the final table of this event which guarantees a minimum gain of $ 3,720, to know Marie-Josee McDuff, Nate Patten, Robert Deemer, Fred Samelian and Matthew Burnitz. But elimination followed one after one until there were no more than two players for the head's up: Fred Samelian and Nate Patten. Robert Deemer was the first player eliminated from the final table in front of Fred Samelian. Shortly after, Marie-Josee McDuff followed the trend and pocketed $ 6,200 for her 4th place. With three players remaining, Matthew Burnitz started the final table as short stack against Nate Patten and Fred Samelian, the chip leader of the day. The elimination of Matthew Burnitz allowed two other players to reach the head's up with a respective stack of 960,000 and 310,000 chips. For his victory at this poker tournament, Fred Samelian gained $ 13,200 and 120 points for the race to the Card Player Player of the Year. The 2nd prize of $ 9,900 returned to Nate Patten for his runner-up place.
