The AGA against the repurchase of an Atlantic City casino by PokerStars
For PokerStars, one of the most influential operators of online poker, it is time to base its legitimacy on the territory of New Jersey. Precisely for this purpose, and in order to get an official authorization to carry out its business in the State, the poker platform launches a takeover bid for the benefit of an Atlantic City casino, a project of repurchase to which the American Gaming Association (AGA) strongly opposes and tries to prevent by all means. What is the reason?
Before as after Black Friday, PokerStars always has a certain dominance in the field of online poker. It is inevitably the reason why it feels fully empowered to enhance the reputation of one of the Atlantic City physical casinos, which currently seems in bad situation. The AGA, a 19-year-old American association working in the market of gambling, opposes to it, reminding the role of the online poker operator in the Black Friday as well as in the participation of minors and banned from playing in poker games. But PokerStars thinks that the real reason for this objection might be its refusal of the offer for sale from an AGA member on last March 8th of this year. Would the AGA put the interests of its influential members on the local economy?
