WSOP APAC: Daniel Negreanu won his fifht bracelet during the Main Event
The World Series of Poker initiate more and more stopover in the four corners of the world since a few years. This year marks the introduction of the WSOP in Asia and the Pacific with the organization of the first World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific. Many professional players searching golden bracelet moved to Australia to participate in this inaugural tour of the WSOP APAC at Crown Casino in Melbourne. After Phil Ivey's victory (9th bracelet) in Mixed Games, it is Daniel Negreanu who won the Main Event in front of 405 players, after 12 hours of final table.
The final table began with eigth players : Benny Spindler, George Tsatsis, Daniel Marton, Daniel Negreanu, Russell Thomas, Kahle Burns, Mikel Habb et Winfred Yu. But after a few hours of game, elimination followed one another after Russell Thomas's exits in the 8th place. Shortly after, he was joined by Mikel Habb, Benny Spindler, Kahle Burns et George Tsatsis.The elimination of Winfred Yu in the 3rd place allowed the local player Daniel Marton to end up in the head's up with the Canadian Daniel Negreanu. The victory was almost assured for the Canadian who started this last phase of the competition with 11 millions chips against a little more than a million for his opponent. Daniel Negreanu won thus easily this poker tournament and pocketed AUD 1,038,825. At present, the Canadian adds up 5 WSOP bracelets in his career : $2,000 Pot-Limit Hold'em in1998, $2,000 H.O.R.S.E in 2003, $2,000 Limit Hold' em in 2004, $2,000 Limit Hold' em in 2008 and this recent victory, a first one in No-Limit Hold'em, during the $10,000 Main Event of the WSOP APAC 2013.
