Global Poker Index: Mizrachi progressed into the top 10

The update of the Global Poker Index (GPI) of this week was marked by the strong growth of Michael Mizrachi. The Grinder jumped to the seventh position thanks to his victory at the World Series of Poker Circuit South Africa in last February. This is his best place in this poker ranking. Marvin Rettenmaier is still leading the GPI. He is followed by Philipp Gruissem in the second place and Mike Watson on third position. The French number one Bertrand Grospellier is the threshold of the podium. Regarding the American Jason Mercier, he lost five places and occupies now the 8th position ahead of Joseph Cheong (9th) and Steve O'Dwyer (10th) who fell three places each. Bryn Kenney and David Sands completed the top 10 and are ranked 5th and 6th.

The GPI also welcomed new members. There are among others Michel Abecassis who occupies the 254 th place by winning the € 1,000 side event of the European Poker Prague and by finishing runner-up at the Euro Finals of Poker, Paul Lieu, Jacob Bazeley and also Daniel Stern. In the other side, Guillaume Darcourt, Koen de Visscher, Jose Manuel Nadal, Brandon Cantu, Paul Tedeschi and Benjamin Spindler need to accomplish new feats in order to reinstate the rankings. Some poker professionals are in a difficult situation because they also dropped a lot. Among them, there are Phil Hellmuth who lost 44 seats, Liv Boeree (-34), Daniel Negreanu (-52), David Benyamine (-35), Andy Frankenberger (-64), John Monnette (-31) and Joe Kuther (-42).
