WPT Venice Grand Prix: Rocco Palumbo pay tribute to his country
Having gathered 173 players at Casino Di Venezia in the city of Venice, the World Poker Tour Grand Prix Venice (WPT) completed with the victory of a local player, the Italian Rocco Palumbo. He defended the honor of his country and embellished his prize list with a new prestigious title by winning this poker tournament. Note that this young player already has a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. It only remains a European Poker Tour trophy for him to access the rank of players holders of Triple Crown while he has just 24 years old.
In the final of this 3,300 buy-in main event, Palumbo triumphed against fabulous competitor. He effectively faced the American poker pro, member of the Poker Hall of Fame, Mike Sexton. Despite his many years of experience, the latter had to settle for the third place with $ 69,723 in earnings. During the final duel, he ousted the Italian Marcello Montagner, a final step that lead him to the $ 180,097 first prize. His runner-up left for his part with $ 108,316 in his pocket. Robert Begni, Xia Lin and Erion Islamay complete the list of finalists. They are respectively in the 4th, 5th and 6th position. Among the well known players who accessed the ITM of the WPT Venice, there is Matt Salsberg who occupies the seventh place, Martin Staszko (10th), Kara Scott (12th) and Ludovic Lacay (12th).
