Aussie Millions $ 25,000 Challenge: Igor Kurganov took his revenge

The Aussie Millions which were held in Melbourne ended its edition 2013 with the $ 25,000 Challenge event last weekend. This poker meeting attracted a field of 27 players and was marked by the coronation of Igor Kurganov. At the start of the event, the audience attend a fantastic style of play delivered by players like Antonio Esfandiari, Vanessa Selbst, Joe Hachem, Jesse Sylvia, Grant Levy and also Jeff Rossiter who were eliminated before the final. After a few hours of play, there were only eight players out of the 30 registered. The eliminations of Mark Teltscher, Jonathan Karamalikis and Ole Schemion helped to define the final table composed of 5 players: Erik Seidel, Igor Kurganov, Niklas Heinecker, Fabian Quoss and Philipp Gruissem.

Sunday, the five finalists meet in the poker room at Crown Casino. Fabian Quoss held the chip lead with a stack of 504,500 chips while the short stack was Philipp Gruissem, and Erik Seidel who had just over 120,000 chips. Fabian Quoss was the first eliminated despite his good position in the beginning of the event. He was subsequently followed by Niklas Heinecker and Erik Seidel. The three players left the final table with gains of $ 51,000, $ 85,000 and $ 125,000. Igor Kurganov and Philipp Gruissem met for the second time in their career in head's up. After losing the duel in 2011 during the $ 25,000 High Roller of the European Poker Tour London, Kurganov took his revenge and collected $ 275,000.
