Aussie Millions: Mervin Chan won the Main Event

The Aussie Millions is a very popular poker event in the Asia Pacific since its inception a few years ago. In this edition2013, the Crown Casino in Melbourne which is hosting the Aussie Millions received 629 players who paid their AU $ 10,000 buy-in, which generated a prize pool of AU $ 6,290,000. Note that last year, the Main Event of the Aussie Millions gathered a record field of 721 players. After eight days of competition, there were only seven players on the 157, 196 and 269 inscribed in the three first days. Dan Shak led the final table with 3,775,000 chips but his direct competitors in terms of chip count, Jarrod Glennon and Patrik Antonius were not far away with respectively a stack of 3,600,000 and 3,345,000 chips. The other four seats of the final table were occupied by Mervin Chan, Joseph Cabret, David Yan and Jay Tan who started the final table as the short stack with 1,220,000 chips.

Dan Shak and Patrick Antonius started the final day of the Aussie Millions with the best asset to win a title of this poker tournament but the Australian Mervin Chan, who started the day with less than 3 million chips reversed the trend and won the event and the AU $ 1.6 million reserved for the winner. Joseph Cabret is the runner-up of the event and took home AU $ 1 million, followed by Patrik Antonius (AU $ 600,000), Dan Shak (AU $ 400,000), Jarrod Glennon (AU $ 290,000), David Yan (220,000 AU $) and Jay Tan (AU $ 150,000).
