NBC Heads-Up Championship: The trophy of the edition 2013 for Mike Matusow
The NBC Heads-Up Championship 2013 comes to have its champion. This is Mike Matusow, who, after four days of competition that has not been easy, triumphed after the final duel that opposed him to Phil Hellmuth. Indeed, after having eliminated John Hennigan, he played the semi-final with confidence against Scott Seiver. The televised duel ended with the victory of Matusow. Once the semi-finals completed, it remained one last hurdle to overcome for him which was a duel with Phil Hellmuth. This final battle began in the poker room of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas at 9:00 pm. Both players received each 800,000 starting chips, a very interesting duel for the audience.
Phil Helmuth was playing for a second victory, which was a motivation for the player with 13 bracelets of the World Series Of Poker. He, in fact, has already been crowned champion of the edition 2005 and pocketed at the time the sum of $ 500,000. But Matusow was ready to cut him off. At the end of the first round, Matusow led with a score of 1-0. He began the second round calmly. Around midnight, the two players began to feel tired. But Matusow managed to maintain his concentration. Luck was also on his side because after thirty minutes of play, he ended up getting rid of his opponent. Hellmuth was praised for his performance, but a loss with $ 300,000 of gain as runner-up of the tournament against $ 750,000 for the winner.
