ARJEL: New recommendations for online poker
As every year, the ARJEL, the French regulatory authority of online games presented its greetings 2013 but it was also an opportunity for the authority to make new recommendations face to the context experienced by online poker in France but also in Europe. Regarding the presentation of greeting itself, the French Regulatory Authority of Online Games chose to abandon the traditional press release and meeting with key players of online poker in France by opting for a simple press release on its official website, financial crisis requires. Which also attracted the attention of Internet users was the position of the ARJEL on strengthening the sector. The Authority therefore recommends the opening of legal offer of new variants of poker, the fight against illegal offer and the pooling of cash of poker tables.
The opening of new variants was already advocated by the ARJEL before but the subject was not followed. In fact, there was already talk about a possible appearance of new variants of poker, such as 7 Card Stud, Omaha and 5 Card Triple Draw on game tables a few months ago but the proposal of the ARJEL should be accepted by the Government in making it public in the form of a ministerial decree by the Ministry of Interior. Which has not been taken so far! Regarding the pooling of cash of poker tables at European level, a revision of the French law is essential. And finally to fight against illegal offer, the ARJEL seeks better attractiveness of the offer without promoting addiction.
