WPT National Dublin: Deadman as the great revelation
Just like last year, the World Poker Tour hasn't forgotten to halt once more in the land of Ireland. And logically, it is the capital, Dublin which welcomed this first step of the new year. For this year 2013, there were 238 players who took part in the main event of the tournament. Despite renowned tournaments that are played in parallel in this beginning of the year, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas is the most prominent, the WPT Dublin managed to gather a nice field. Even some European poker stars have been present, last Sunday, the final table gathered the best players of this meeting who were Simon Deadman, Joachim Haraldstad, Daniel Laming, Fintan Gavin ... But it will be ultimately Simon Deadman, originally from Colombia, who won the title of the WPT National Series.
Thanks to this first international victory, Deadman earns 67,500 from the prize pool of 285,000 collected during this tournament. The Norwegian Joachim Haraldstad finished runner up, even pocketed 47,100, was an easy opponent for the Colombian. Their final head's up indeed lasted only 30 minutes. On the French side, none has been able to access the money list. Sean Prendiville occupied the third place with a gain of 30,250. Jack Salter, Ben Carpenter, Tommy O'Rourke, Daniel Laming's and Gavin Finta were the players who completed the final table and they are classified respectively 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.
