GPI: Dan Smith wins the title of world number one
The excellent course recorded by Dan Smith was in the headlines of poker news for some time. Effectively, this player made many good feats this year. He won six trophies if we only mention that of the Aussie Millions tournament of $ 100,000 during which he pocketed $ 3,739,797 in prize money. His performance also earned him the first place in the Global Poker Index (GPI). Dan Smith became then the world's No. 1 in poker for the year 2012, which will end in a few days. The second place went to Marvin Rettenmaier. The German player had just recorded a big growth. The French, Bertrand Grospellier finished third. Even if he didnt have the privilege to be crowned, he still defended very well his country, France by acceding in the leading trio.
Jason Mercier slipped in the threshold of top 3. Apparently, he was less effective in the last months of the year. Phil Hellmuth made a great recovery and still occupies the fifth place. At the 6 th place, there is Andrew Lichtenberger. Vanessa Selbst follows him at the 7 th position. David Sands, Michael Watson and Steve O'Dwyer fill the list of the top 10 by ranked respectively in the 8th, 9th and 10th place. Two other French also performed well this year and have their place in this ranking of poker players. It is Fabrice Soulier who occupies the 29th position and Roger Hairabedian who is in the 31st position.
