Strategy or game of chance: The fate of poker will be decided in January
Five years after their arrest and incrimination for having offered to players the opportunity to play poker with money in Toulouse bridge room, nforbidden as outside casinos and gambling circles holding a legal administrative authorization, Fédou, Jean Claude Sabatier, Jean-Pierre Gleize and Claude Marbleu are still waiting for the verdict of the justice. Even if the criminal court had already given due in July 2011, calling poker a game of "strategy" but the prosecution didn't digested the verdict, even if it had already been proven. This is why the following of the case in the Court of Appeal.
And like what was said before the correctional court, proof of principle and logic of poker were offered to the magistrates court. "Whenever there is a decision that is made, we go out of gambling. Each choice represents a strategy", defended the club's president, Claude Marbleu. And even if the court finds that for losers, it is therefore a game of chance, he continued that it is a matter of strategy on the part of everyone. Mathematical studies indeed confirm that in poker, luck contributes only on 28% in determining the fate of a player. Moreover, it is not by pure coincidence if professional players are still able to inscribe their names in the list of the major poker tournaments worldwide. But anyway, convinced or not about the nature of poker as a game of strategy, the court will decide on January 17.
