ACOP Main Event: Lam Hin Yue leads the Day 1

The APPT Macau began with the victory of Jeff Rossiter at the Asia Championship of Poker Warm-Up of HK $ 25,000. After this event, the tournament continued with the main event: the ACOP Main Event. The Day 1 began on Wednesday with the participation of 184 players who paid the buy-in of HK $ 100,000. The organizers expected 100 entries to reach HK $ 10 million in guaranteed prize pool but the Main Event attracted a field of 184 players at the Grand Waldo Entertainment Complex. Suddenly, the prize pool reached a record amount of HK $ 17,305,200 of which HK $ 4,240,000 for the winner, which is one of the largest in the history of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau.

At the end of the first day of the ACOP Main Event, the local player Hin Yue Lam is the leader of the 140 remaining with a stack of 122,525. In the top 10 chip counts from the Day 1, we also find Mike Kim, Joseph Cheong, Rahul Byrraju, Seungsoo Jeon, David Martirosyan, Brendon Rubie, Xing Zhou, Hung Hung Cheng and Nicky Tao Jin. The Day 2 field was enhanced by top players in the person of Tom Marchese, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Raymond Wu, Eugene Katchalov or Angel Guillen. The recent winner of the ACOP Warm-Up, Jeff Rossiter, failed to qualify for the Day 2. It is the same for Johnny Chan, John Juanda and Gordon Huntly.
