Asia Championship of Poker 2012: Raymond Wu as the winner of the Event #1
The Asia Championship of Poker 2012 began last weekend with the Event # 1. During this event, which opened the ACOP 2012, the Grand Waldo Casino hosted 192 players for this deepstack tournament of HK $ 10,000 buy-in. The final table of ten players was marked by multi-national qualified players. Indeed, we have seen Americans, Chinese, Korean, Greek, Thai, Czech, Swiss or Iranians. Among the contenders for the first edition of the Asia Championship of Poker, we could see Roman Babela, Amir Hatefi, Iqannis Kontonatsios, Mansour Khorramshahi, Vladimir Geshkenbein, Bernard Vu, Raymond Wu, Vivian Im and Iqbal Ahmed. This latter was the chipleader at the start of the final table, while Vivian Im was part of the short stacks.
After a few hours of play, the eliminations succeeded until there were only three players on the table. The first player leaving the table was Amir Hatefi who pocketed HK $ 34,408 for his 10th place. Roman Babel fell at the 9th place (HK $ 42,800) followed shortly after by Iqannis Kontonatsios (8th, HK $ 60,000), Saehoon Lee (7th, HK $ 77,100), Mansour Khorramshahi (6th, HK $ 94,200), Bernard Vu (5th, HK $ 111,400) and Vladimir Geshkenbein (4th, HK $ 137,100). The title was played between Vivian Im, Raymond Wu and Iqbal Ahmed but Wu removed Im only in a few hands and entered in the head's up with Ahmed. He then won the duel and pocketed HK $ 419,800 for winning the Event # 1 of the ACOP 2012. Iqbal Ahmed left the Grand Waldo Casino with HK $ 282,700 for his second place while Vivian Im, eliminated in the 3rd place pocketed HK $ 171,300.
