Tasmanian Poker Championship 2012: The Main Event won by Elliot Davies
Australia hosted several poker tournaments this weekend. Apart from the ANZPT Melbourne Main Event which reached its final table on Sunday, another event was held in Melbourne : the Tasmanian Poker Championship 2012. Since last Thursday, the Wrest Point Casino of Hobart received this event which registered 120 players for the two days of entry. All participants paid each $ 290 buy-in which generated a prize pool of $ 22,250 with $ 8,900 dedicated to the winner. After the two days of entry, only 22 players, including 10 of the Day 1A and 12 during the Day 1B, survived with Jon Tozer as chipleader with a stack of 95,200 chips. On Saturday, the event resumed with 22 survivors of the previous days but after a few levels, there were only 10 players on the tables. The Day 2 ended with the elimination of George Mamarcus, bubble boy of the final in the 10th place. Nine players were qualified for the final table but only the top six are in the money with a minimum gain of $ 1,335.
Michael Lockett, Elliott Davies, Jon Tozer, Craig Mansbridge, Daniel Wright, Chris Edgar, David Luckman, John Snooks and Darryl Pang met for the final table on Sunday but the adventure of Darryl Pang (9th), David Luckman (8th ) and Michael Lockett (7th) was short-lived. They were not paid for because of their elimination outside the ITM. Chris Edgar was the first player eliminated in the ITM followed shortly after by John Snooks ($ 1,557.50), Craig Mansbridge ($ 2,225) and Daniel Wright ($ 3,337.50). After the head's up, Elliott Davies triumphed in four hands face to Jon Tozer. Davies pocketed $ 8,900 for his title while Tozer settled with the prize of $ 4,895.
