Emperors Palace Poker Classic WPT: Dominik Nitsche lead before the Day 2
Since Monday, October 22, Johannesburg, South Africa is hosting a large scale poker tournament on the African continent: the WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic. The Main Event of the $ 3,600 tournament drew during its Day 1 a total field of 224 players. The Day 1A registered 74 entries but after ten hours of play, only 34 players survived to the Day 2. Dominik Nitsche dominated the Day 1A with a stack of 225,700 chips while his pursuer remained far behind with 139,200 tokens: Gideon Scheepers. The Day 1A was also marked by the elimination of two winners of the World Series of Poker in the person of Joe Cada and Chris Moneymaker. They left the table prematurely face to Ronit Chamani and Emmanuel Kistan's winning hands.
The tournament resumed the next day with the Day 1B during which 150 players registered. 80 players survived on the day of Tuesday after the ten levels of play and will join the survivors of the Day 1A with a total of 114 players for the Day 2. The chipleader of the first day of entry remains in the lead with 225,700 chips, followed closely by Sunil Devachander (215,800) and Wesley Weigand (212,800), the three players who have more than 200,000 chips.
