WSOPE: Jonathan Aguiar wins the Event #5
The game continues in Cannes in the World Series of Poker Europe 2012 (WSOPE). While survivors of the Main Event are still battling for the title, a player won a bracelet. This is Jonathan Aguiar who won the Event # 5, the Mix Max NLH of 10,450 buy-in. This is not the first exploit of the young Portuguese. Indeed, Jonathan Aguiar won this summer five cashes at the WSOP in Las Vegas. The Portuguese is in a nice rise as he emerged victorious in a very tough final table. Well known poker players like Farah Jaka, Konstantin Puchkov, Marvin Rettenmaier and Martin Jacobson were among the competitors for the title. None of them was able to eiminate Aguiar and they were classified respectively 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th.
In the final duel, Aguiar confronted Brandon Cantu. Postponed for 48 hours, the final head's up ended with the victory of the Portuguese. The WSOP 2009 champion bowed at the runner-up place and was awarded the prize of 159.459. Aguiar received as a reward the first prize of 258,047 and the gold jewelry. Note that the prizepool of 921,600 was shared between the top 16 players. Jennifer Tilly, Phil Hellmuth, Jason Mercier, Paul Tedeshi and the French number one Bertrand Grospellier were part of the paid list. Roger Hairabedian for his part did a very good run as he ended at the third place. He received a bonus of 86,087.
