For the first time in the history, the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) circuit made a stop in Panama. The Main Event of $ 2,500 entry fee for this poker tournament ended last Sunday with the victory of the Argentine Leo Fernandez. 39 years old, he were the best face to the 338 players who came to compete for the title of the event. His performance let him win the prize of $ 171,930. Note that to win the trophy, Leo Fernandez faced the American Patrick Mahoney in the final duel which lasted two hours. The runner-up left therefore the event with the second prize amounting $ 108,700. Note that the prizepool gathered reached $ 700,000. But the organizers distributed a total of more than a million dollars prize, which particularly pleased the participants.
The LAPT Panama recorded a real success, which made it one of the biggest poker events organized in Latin America. In addition, many tournaments were held during the first edition which include cash game tournaments held at Veneto Casino Wyndham. Faced to such a success, the organizers decided to repeat the feat. Thus, the Panamanian call will be still in the program at the LAPT Season VI. Other improvements will be also added in the next edition. Indeed, in order to attract more participants, the entrance fees to the various events will be revised downwards. The organizers will also try to regulate the dates of the various stages so the LAPT will become a rendezvous for professional and amateur of poker. Note that the last step of the 5th season will take place at Lama in Peru from November 14 to 18, 2012.
