Jean-François Vilotte gives his opinion on the French online gaming
Despite rumors about the absence of the French market of online games since the beginning of the regulation, Jean-François Vilotte gives his opinion on this subject. In fact, he cautions that this sector really exists in the economic landscape of France. Thus, faced with the many simplistic speeches, Jean-François Vilotte brings his estimates and comments on the French market size of online games including online poker, horse betting and online sports betting. According to him, the French market of online games record currently bets amounting 10 billions despite the 650M expected before the opening. A market that also has 40 approvals in addition to the thousands of players who subscribed accounts.
Compared to other European markets such as Italy and Great Britain, France occupies a much more important place if we are only talking about the UK market with a gap of 6 billion Euro. Regarding the closure of many French online poker room, Jean-François Vilotte explains that as in many other economic sectors, operators appear, die or end up to merge. The opening to competition leads to that normal cycle but this do still not stop regulators to question about the economic future of each operator. Given that the proposal of more attractive offers is the best way to fight against illegal sites, operating principles established in the sector must take into account several parameters.
