GPI: Elky keeps his status as leader

Many members of the top 20 of the Global Poker Index (GPI) are present in Cannes to play poker in the various events organized in the framework of the World Series of Poker Europe 2012 (WSOPE), which will certainly shake up the rankings in the next days. Currently, the top 20 didn't register any major change. The French number one Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier is still in the first place in the standings. He beat Jason Mercier and Dan Smith. Note that he is in Cannes to reinforce in one hand his 1st place in the GPI ranking and to defend the honour of France at the Main Event that he completed until here the first day of competition as leader.

Pending the impact of the WSOPE tournament results on the GPI, other events that were completed brought some changes in the rankings. Among them are the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open (WPT) which allowed some players to enter for the first time the standings. We can mention the presence of Tyler Patterson at the 269 th place and David Diaz at the 244 th position. The French Yorane Kerignard who won the trophy WPT Malta also made his start in the GPI and is in the 190 th position. Having finished third in the same event, Alessaio Isaia also won many points that allowed him to reach the 56th place of the standings. Finally, we can also mention the exploits of Mickey Petersen at the English Poker Open. With his victory, he also won 79 seats and is currently at the 56th position.
