WSOPE Event 5: Brandon Cantu chipleader of the Day 2
The Mixed Max No-Limit Hold'em, the Event 5 of the World Series of Poker Europe, brought together a field of 96 players at the start of the Day 1. But after this first day, there remains more than 56 survivors to start the Day 2. Many top players were still present at the start of the day on Thursday but in the end, many of them left the poker room of Majestic Barrière in Cannes. Phil Ivey, Jonathan Duhamel, Antonio Esfandiari, John Juanda, Justin Bonomo, Chance Kornuth, Brian Park, Roberto Romanello and JC Alvarado were among those removed from the day. Roger Hairabedian is part of the 16 survivors of the day. The French, who just won the PLO (Event 3) is in a comfortable place in this Event 5 with a stack of 225,600 chips. Michael Mizrachi is also qualified for the Day 2, but he didn't resist until the end of the day.
Brandon Cantu is the chipleader of the 16 survivors of the Day 2 holding a quarter of tournament chips (738,100 tokens) and after the draw, he will face in head's up Phil Hellmuth (127,400) on the Day 3. Among the other contenders for this WSOPE Event 5 bracelet, we can also retain the presence of Phil Hellmuth, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Marvin Rettenmaier, Jason Mercier, Mike Watson and Martin Jacobson. Short stack of the Day 2 with 18,000 chips, ElkY will face in head's up Konstantin Puchkov with ten times more chips (183,700).
