English Poker Open 2012: Victory of Mickey Petersen
The English Poker Open tournament was held at Fox Poker Club in London. They were 137 players who joined the poker room to take part in the event. Some of the best poker players in the UK have been part of this field like Liv Boeree, Sam Trickett, James Akenhead, Roberto Romanello, Surinder Sunar, Neil Channing and Ben Jackson. None of them unfortunately got a place on the podium. It's the young Danish player, Mickey Petersen, champion of the European Poker Tour Copenhagen who won the victory of this edition 2012 of the English Poker Open. This is the second major title acquired by the Danes whose career began there in just four years.
Having started the final table with the third largest stack, Peterson managed to dominate his competitors. He had the privilege to confront and defeat the candidate for the Poker Hall Of Fame 2012, Chris Bjorin in the final duel. This latter occupied then the place of runner-up and received the second prize of £ 49,690. Thanks to his performance, Peterson walked away with the trophy and a $ 78,660 bonus. Surinder Sunar for his part was awarded the third place with a prize of £ 35,880. As for the other finalists of the tournament, Jamie Roberts, Nicolas Lategano, Ben Jackson, Niels Ladefoged, Thomas Laumier and Igor Kurganov were respectively ranked in the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th.
