WPT Borgata Poker Open: Ben Hamnett pocketed more than $ 800,000

Last Friday, the main event of the World Poker Tour Borgata Open unveiled its fate after several days of competition. Note that this competition was held in the poker room of the Borgata casino in Atlantic City and recorded a huge success as it was attended by 1,181 players generating a prize pool of $ 3,897,300. After having faced this broad field and removed Matthew Burnitz at the final table, Ben Hamnett was the winner of this event. He got the first place and pocketed the first prize of $ 818,847. For the American, this is his first major title. This victory also allowed him to earn a place in the grand final of the WPT Season XI which will take place at Bellagio in Las Vegas in 2013. Hamnett thus succeeds to Bobby Oboodi, the champion in 2011 who managed to win against a record field of 1,313 participants.

As a reminder, 110 players were entitled to a share of the prize pool. In the side of professional players, Jeff Williams, Allen Cunningham, Kyle Bowker, Tony Dunst, Vinny Pahuja and David Pham accessed in the money list. Regarding the results of the other finalists, Tyler Patterson completed the podium. Ofir Mor, Steve Brecher, who was the favorite of the final table and David Diaz were respectively ranked 4th, 5th and 6th. After this successful stage in Atlantic City, this poker tournament will visit Johannesburg, South Africa from October 22 to 26, 2012.
