WPT Malta: A first victory for Yorane Kerignard
The World Poker Tour Malta was a successful event despite a lower attendance compared to the edition 2011. Indeed, there were 169 participants seen during the Main Event of 3,300 buy-in, but at the start of the Day 4, the last day of the Main Event, there were only six potential players for the title, the 120,000 award and the $ 25,000 package for the WPT Bellagio Championship. The final table was played between Alessio Isaia, Yorane Kerignard, Hui Chen Kuo, Sampo Ryynanen, Zeljko Krizan and Jackson Genovesi but at the end of the day of Thursday, it was Yorane Kerignard who emerged as the winner after a head's up with Jackson Genovesi. A regular of the EPT with three final tables at his credit, the player is a French online poker player known in France under the nickname "viirusss." Yorane Kerignard dominated the final duel until winning the last hand when Jackson Genovesi made all in.
The first player to leave the final table was Ryynanen Sampo. After an hour, Ryynanen falls at the sixth place followed immediately after by Zeljko Krizan. The two players pocketed respectively 23,300 and 29,300. In the fourth place, we found Kuo Hui Chen who was eliminated by Yorane Kerignard. The player pocketed a gain of 39,200. The 3rd place in the tournament returned to Alessio Isaia who left the final table with a gain of 52,600. As for Jackson Genovesi, runner up of the WPT Malta, he pocketed 82,370.
