WPT Malta: Phil Hellmuth and many stars still in contention
After a stopover in Paris, the World Poker Tour (WPT) is currently visiting two major cities of the world. Indeed, on the sidelines of the American stage, the WPT Malta began a few days ago and its main event of 3,300 buy-in key is curently in its second day of competition. The event which takes place in Portamaso casino gathered a small field of 169 participants generating a prize pool of 500,000. However, despite the low attendance, the WPT Malta 2012 brought together many poker pros like Jason Mercier, Kara Scott, Vanessa Selbst, Erik Cajelais, Marvin Rettenmaier, Dan O'Brien and Tony G.
The presence of Phil Hellmuth also marked the first qualifying day of the tournament. The international star is still fit for Day 2 is scheduled to begin this September 18th from 13 hours. It even appears in the top 10 and ranks 6 th in chip count. Other marquee players will be also back on Day 2 like Dominik Nitsche who is in the place of chipleader with 91,400 chips in hand, Isaia Alessaio who holds the second largest stack in the game, Anton Wigg, Casey Kastle, Jonathan Duhamel and Stevan Van Zadelhof. In the side of French players, we note the presence of Fabrice Soulier in the top 10. But Ilan Boujenah, Alain Roy, Thomas Barbieux, Julien Zemmouri and Arnaud Mattern are also vying to defend the color of France in this event.
