WPT Grand Prix of Paris: David Benyamine wins the Omaha Cup
After the WPT Legends of Poker held at the end of August at Bicycle Casino in California, France will be honored with the World Poker Tour Grand Prix of Paris, which is currently taking place at the Aviation Club de France. The Main Event of the WPT Paris stage has just begun but the poker festival will really begin from the weekend with the Omaha Cup, a Pot Limit Omaha tournament of 5,000 buy-in. The event attracted 44 players which included big names of live poker tournament like Elie Payan, Antony Lellouche, Basile Yaiche, Michael Mizrachi, Theo Jorgensen, Samuel Chartier, Juha Helppi, Matthew Soucheleau, Xavier Niel and Jean-Noël Thorel. But after two days of competition, its the French poker pro David Benyamine who emerged victorious after a head's up with Elias Damouni. For his title, Benyamine won a prize of 94,050.
On Day 2, the bubble burst when Juha Helppi surrendered against Elias Damouni. There were only five players for the title, the first to be eliminated left the tournament with a check of 10,450: Elias Damouni, Morgan Angerfors, John Kabbaj, Theo Jorgensen and David Benyamine. Angerfors and Kabbaj do not last long while the 3rd place went back to Jorgensen who was eliminated by Damouni who were at the time qualified for the head's up with David Benyamine. Having started the heads-up with a stack of 780,000 against 540,000 for his opponent, Benyamine maintained his advantage and won the title and 94,050.
