Player of The Year: Ascension of Ivey and Steinberg
Several major poker tournaments took place in recent weeks. There were among others the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker, the Macau High Stakes Challenge and The River's WinStar main event. It is obvious that through their performance during these events, some players improved their positions in the rankings Player Of The Year (POY). In this context, we should mention the rise of Max Steinberg in the 18 th place. As a reminder, Steinberg made tremendous feat this year. He won his first bracelet of the World Series of Poker and had just finished runner-up at the WPT Legends of Poker to be held at Bicycle Casino. He won several points, which explains the fact that he had a place in the top 20 ranking.
Phil Ivey also increased significantly in the POY thanks to his good run at Macau High Stakes Challenge. Finishing eighth, he won 140 points, allowing him to climb at the eighth position of the POY. We should also mention the excellent performance of Aaron Massey at the WinStar's The River. By winning this tournament that met 1,396 with participants, he won 960 points. He is therefore in the 76 th place. At four months of the end of 2012 so, Dan Smith is the leader of POY. Kyle Julius ranks second and Marvin Rettenmaier completed the podium.
