APPT Melbourne: Victory of Sam Razavi
On Monday, September 3, the poker room of Crown Casino hosted the nine survivors of the Main Event of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne 2012. At the start of the day, Tom Grigg held the chip lead but at the end of the day, it's Sam Razavi who won the title of the APPT Melbourne. The day began with the elimination of Brendon Rubie. For his 9th place, Rubie left the final table with a prize of $ 27,175. A few hands later, Kristian Lunardi eliminated the short stack of the final table Nigel Andrews in the 8th place. After having ousted Andrews, Lunardi fell at the 7th place followed by James Bills in the 6th place. The two players fell face to Wayne Bentley.
After an hour, Gary Benson and Wayne Bentley left also the table and ranked at the 5th and 4th place, leaving Tom Grigg, Keith Walker and Sam Razavi for the battle for the title. The three survivors took the chip lead at one point of the game until Razavi knocks Grigg who was however in a good way for an APPT title. For his third place, Tom Grigg pocketed $ 114,750. The head's up was then played between Keith Walker and Sam Razavi but this latter had a big advantage in chips. The party was dominated by Sam Razavi who needed only 10 minutes to achieve the part. Sam Razavi pocketed $ 326,125 for his first place against $ 205,345 for Keith Walker for his runner-up place at the APPT Melbourne 2012.
