EPT Barcelona: Polito as the best in the High Roller
Alongside the Main Event, the High Roller was since a few times a very interesting event in terms of prizepool at live poker tournaments and it attracts many professional players. The Grand Casino Barcelona hosted the High Roller of the EPT Barcelona, a tournament in which 101 players registered and 10 of them used the re-entry formula. In total, the 10,000 buy-in High Roller was attended by a record field of 111 which generated a total prize pool of 1,087,800. Many professional players made the trip like Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Scott Seiver, Pius Heinz, Jonathan Duhamel, Philipp Gruissem, Jason Mercier, Dan Smith or Angel Guillen. Taylor Paur was leading the 76 survivors with a stack of 220,400 chips. The Day 3 has as issue places in the ITM but most of top players were eliminated before entering in the money. This is the case of Jason Mercier, Angel Guillen, Bryn Kenney, Peter Jetten, Andrey Pateychuk and Mike Watson.
Of the 12 remaining players who were all in the money, Tobias Reinkemeier was the chipleader with a stack of 714,000, but other big names of poker were also still in contention for the title like Bilokur, Andrulis, Lichtenberger, Duhamel, Grospellier... But After a few hands, the majority of the field was eliminated, leaving only Polito and Bilokur in the head's up. The chiplead changed all along the duel and its Polito who finally was the best with his pair of queens against a pair of nine for Bilokur. Following a deal signed a few times ago, Laurent Polito won the title and 270,229 while Alex Bilokur left the final table with 295,451.
