EPT Barcelona: Aku Joentausta, chipleader of the Main Event Day 1A
A must live poker circuit in Europe, the European Poker Tour (EPT) is currently in its ninth season. Spain inaugurated the opening of the new season with the EPT Barcelona Gran Casino in the same city since August 15 to 25, 2012 with the 5,300 buy-in Main Event that began on Sunday, August 19. Last year, the Main Event of the step of Barcelona attracted 811 players generating a colossal prize pool of 4,000,000. But ultimately, it is the German Martin Schleich who won the title and 850,000 after a head's up against the Spanish Dragan Costic. On Sunday, the EPT Barcelona drew a crowd of 403 participants for the Day 1A and the second day of entry will accommodate many more listings. Many stars like Daniel Negreanu, Pius Heinz, Dan Stern, Martin Jacobson, Adeniya Martins, John Juanda, Benny Spindler, Liv Boeree, Alex Veldhuis and Matthias De Meulder registered but only some of them are qualified for the Day 2. We note thus the unexpected eliminating of Liv Boeree, Arnaud Mattern and Benny Spindler.
At the end of Day 1A, Aku Joentausta holds the chip lead on the 226 survivors for the Day 2. The Finn with his stack of 236,200 chips is closely followed by Guy Thomas (211,000). Daniel Stern, Emanoil Sayin, Mauro Canavese, ALex Veldhuis, Antonin Duda, Dimitar Danchev, Zimnan Ziyard, Alexander Debus are also vying for the title while Martin Schleich Kent Lunmark and Sebastian Ruthenberg aim their second EPT title.
