Genting Poker Series: Chung, chipleader at the start of Day 3
Since last Wednesday, poker enthusiasts from the United Kingdom met in Stoke for the Genting Poker Series. This season, the GPS has 7 steps that crisscross the kingdom since the beginning of February. After the stage of Star City (Birmingham), Southend and Edinburgh, the Genting Poker Series was calling in Stoke for the £ 430 buy-in Main Event generating a guaranteed prize pool of £ 800,000. This stage of Stoke will be followed by the Genting Poker Series of Sheffield to be held in next September. The grand finale at Palm Beach Casino in London is meanwhile expected in December for a buy-in of £ 1,600.
After the first day which was divided into two entry days, only 147 players were able to qualify for the Day 2 with Sandeep Shah as chipleader. The 147 survivors of the Day 1, 48 during the day 1A and 99 during the day 1B, met agin on Saturday, August 4 on Day 2 during which the remaining players of the 128 will be in the money for a minimum gain of £ 950. At the end of the day, Yiu Chung took the chip lead with a stack of 1.6 million followed by Simon Deadman (1,482,000) and Steve Warburton (1,339,000). Only three players are over one million chips. Having already won $ 2,258 for a 5th place at a side event of the APPT Macau in 2009 and £ 300 in Manchester MegaStack, Yiu Chung is on the way to win his first live tournament.
